Kay has always loved colour and was drawn to silk over 25 years ago when she was spinning and dyeing silk to knit. Silk takes colour like no other fibre, shimmering with light and life, as well as feeling sensuously soft and luxurious. Kay is a local Artist/Artisan living in the Northern NSW, Australia area.
After attending a silk painting workshop in Lismore, NSW, Australia, Kay started painting on silk soon after. At first she painted small pieces of silk to make cards, then gradually progressed to scarves, ties, blouses, sarongs, wall hangings and the occasional painting.
Kay also dabbles in Chinese brush painting – some of her silk paintings have an Asian-inspired feel/look to them.
